Have you ever wondered what Easter on Islay is like?

There’s a beautiful ‘fizzy buzz’ in the air just now. Ferries are arriving, loaded with happy people ready to enjoy a fabulous Easter on Islay. The paths and tracks are blooming with the vivid yellow of a whole host of varieties of daffodils, and the whin is in bloom.

Easter is a time when everything ‘ups a gear’. Shops, cafes and restaurants have been painted and decorated. Their menus updated to whet your appetite. Egg Hunt at the Cake Cupboard

The ‘Cake Cupboard’ in Port Wemyss opens again. Pop along for takeaway teas, coffees and delicious home baked goodies. Enjoy a wander along the path, with breath taking views out over the sea. There’s always seals bobbing in the bay, or sunning themselves on the rocky outcrops! There’s even an Easter Egg Hunt around the coastal path, with clues to unscramble, and prizes to be collected at the cake cupboard.

Spring High Tea

Good Friday and the sunshine is bursting in the skies. Why not head along for an Easter treat as the Islay and Jura dancers are holding a Spring High Tea at Bruichladdich Hall at 2pm

Rhinns Movie Club

On Saturday 30th March, for any movie lovers, enjoy watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Rhinns Movie Club in Portnahaven Hall, or Bladerunner at 5pm.

Duck Derby

Easter Sunday and it is time to enjoy an afternoon of Easter fun with the traditional Duck Race at Bridgend Auction Mart. There’s the Easter Duck Derby, a BBQ, icecreams and stalls.

T in the Church

Easter Monday, 1st April, and for any tea lovers, head along to support the Rhinns community’s T in the Church. Tuck into local delicious home baking as the Rhinns community show off their amazing baking traditions. A truly warm welcome awaits between 11am and 3pm

Chit Chat Strollers

If you fancy a gently stroll though the woods, why not join the Chit Chat Strollers on Easter Monday? Meeting on the Hotel carpark at Bridgend Hotel, at 2pm. Head for a gentle ramble before tucking into tea and cakes in the Hotel afterwards.
