Enjoy staying in our cosy Islay self-catering accommodation on this traditional working Hebridean hill farm. Persabus Cottage, the original farmhouse, was built in the late 1700s, and was renovated in the 1990s, by owners Donald and Rosemary, into a comfortable and homely self-catering cottage.  Stay on a self-catering basis, or enjoy bed and breakfast, with a whole home for your party to enjoy. It is dog friendly, and has its own private garden, ideal for enjoying those beautiful Islay sunsets at the end of the day. With full wifi throughout it is the perfect home from home.

Holiday Cottage Features

A large farmhouse kitchen features an oil-fired Rayburn, which is switched on during the colder months. There is a large dining table and a settee next to the Rayburn to cosy up on after a day out on the beaches or hills. The kitchen has a selection of appliances to suit your needs, including an electric hob with cooker, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, and a fridge with a small freezer compartment.

A utility room off the kitchen has a washing machine, an additional sink, heated drying rack, iron and ironing board.

Large patio doors lead from the kitchen into the private, enclosed garden. The garden features a high drystone wall built in the 1760s by Thomas Spalding, who built the Round church in Bowmore. There is also a decked area, with a picnic bench, ideal for barbecues on a hot day.

The sitting room, in addition to the oil fired central heating throughout, the Cottage also has the option of a coal effect stove, or a traditional open fire, for additional comfort and cosiness. Coal and kindling can be purchased from the general stores at Bridgend. There is a flat screen TV, for those wishing to enjoy a lazy fireside evening.

The small study downstairs, provides desk space should you wish to read or write there. 

Two bedrooms have the option of four single beds or for couples, a king-size double bed and super king size double bed. (Please specify your party’s needs at time of booking , otherwise the Cottage will be made up with a double room and twin room).

A third bedroom has bunk beds, which are approximately 1.75m in length.

The bathroom features a bath with a shower over it, wash hand basin and WC. There is also an additional WC and wash hand basin downstairs.

What’s Provided

We supply all linen and towels. A travel cot and high chair can be provided please let us know your requirements when booking.

Dog Friendly Holidays

We are very happy to accept well behaved dogs to our cottages, but do ask owners to note that it is a working farm, so dogs must be kept under control when in the surrounding areas. There is an extra charge per dog.

B&B or Self Catering Options Available

We would like to help you create the perfect holiday to suit your needs. If you would prefer to stay in the cottage on a bed and breakfast basis we can deliver breakfast rolls filled with bacon, egg and potato scones, along with a pot of freshly ground coffee each morning.

BOOKING TERMS

Persabus Cottage is a non-smoking property. Check-in time is at 3pm, please let us know if you are arriving later than this so we can be here to welcome you on arrival. Check-out time is 10.00am on the morning of departure.

Two night stay. An awesome place to stay. What a welcome we received from Rosemary. Shown to our bedroom with en suite, a small lounge and TV area to share with guests from one other room. Tea/ coffee making facilities available in room. Dog friendly. Donald served us breakfast and very fine it was too.
